Shieling Working Group meeting

Drawing by Lorna Bryon at Shieling Study Day, March 2019.

Shieling Working Group meets regularly to make plans for public space improvements in Shieldfield. The group is always open to new members.

Next meeting Shieling Working Group:

Wednesday 29 March, 9.00 - 10.30am

Star & Shadow Cinema, Warwick Street, NE2 1BB

Shieling is a concept and action - a powerful tool to use to think about community use of Shieldfield’s public spaces and creating new community spaces that are built from the ground up, using Shieldfield’s natural ecology and drawing upon its people, materiality and histories.

See the draft agenda for this meeting here.

Towards the end of this meeting, as part of their Shieldfield Artist Residency random.weave are pleased to offer a one off workshop to the Shieling Working Group.

This will be a hands-on, practical, session making a shelter, or den, using local green willow. Interwoven with the practical session, there will be space to reflect and explore themes associated with Shielings:

  • What does shelter mean to us as individuals and for our community?

  • How do we relate to the natural world in our urban lives?

  • What values associated with Shieling do we weave into Dwellbeing?

Come along to a meeting to find out more.

You can also contact Hannah at hannah@dwellbeingshieldfield.org.uk or leave a message on the Dwellbeing Mobile 07593 769 129 and we’ll get back to you.
