Volunteer Call Out
Youth Programme Volunteer
Would you like to support activities for young people in Shieldfield?
We are looking for volunteers who are interested in being part of our team at the Shieldfield Youth Programme.
We run regular weekly sessions with a mix of different activities at The Newbridge Project. This role will involve tasks such as:
Supporting with regular sessions/activities for young people.
Supporting the youth work team during external skills workshops and trips.
Offering mentorship to the young people.
Be vital in the planning, development and running of the youth programme.
Helping to set up and tidy up after sessions.
Following Safeguarding and Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. (You will be briefed on this as part of your volunteer induction.)
Share skills and knowledge with young people.
Support the young people to have a safe and fun time!
Volunteers will support our regular weekly sessions. In these sessions, we play games, eat snacks, have discussions, and sometimes welcome artists and community facilitators.
Regular sessions take place at The NewBridge Project on Wednesdays, 4.00pm - 6.15pm
This role also involves detached work. On detached you will join the youth worker on walks around Shieldfield to meet and speak to the local young people to develop relationships and promote the Shieldfield Youth Programme. Time and dates for detached are currently TBC.
How do volunteer shifts work?
While the sessions are weekly there is no expectation to volunteer on a regular (i.e weekly) basis. We email dates in advance and volunteers get back in touch with when they can do. Feel free to sign up for as few or many as you like!
If you would like to be a volunteer on the youth programme, please get in touch by email: shieldfieldyouthprogramme@gmail.com or precious@thenewbridgeproject.com

The key purpose of youth work is to allow a safe space for young people to be themselves, empower and encourage each other, and a place for them to discover themselves in a positive way by exploring new skills and hobbies and interests. Youth work should be a happy place where young people will grow and flourish, and a season that a young person will look back and be grateful for.
