What next for Dwellbeing Shieldfield?

On the morning of Saturday, 27th April members and supporters of Dwellbeing gathered together for a general meeting. Twenty-six of us met at SAW for a brief update on our activities and on the National Lottery Community Fund grant which we received earlier this year. The rest of the meeting was spent exploring the difference people will experience in Shieldfield if we are successful in our aims and objectives.

People who came along to the meeting represented the diverse community found in Shieldfield and the discussion was lively and at times challenging as we considered three key themes:

● The environment will reflect the needs of residents

● There will be opportunities for social connection and a sense of belonging

● The community will feel included, connected and heard

“ It will be lively and vibrant

Delicious food smells, music, activities, sculptures and murals

Self-sufficiency, people ‘own the space’

People will know their neighbours and feel safe and we’ll smile

Collective voice and respect for difference for opinion, resident power to determine how the neighbourhood looks

A neighbourhood for all generations

We then considered what is already working well and . . . .

What can I, as a member of this community, do to help make the difference?

There were lots of options and ideas that came out of our meeting and we are now working out how to take these forward. Watch this space for more information over the coming months.
