Turning Plans into Actions

In August 2022 we launched a public space strategy for Shieldfield. Now 20 months on, we want to reflect on its use as a tool for change.

The strategy sets out some important priorities, and potential actions to improve planning and development in the area so that it is a better, greener and safer place to live. It was the culmination of 5 years’ of engagement and research by Dwellbeing Shieldfield and residents and was intended to act as a guide for our future actions.

You can download and read the strategy here.

Dwellbeing’s Shieling Working Group has taken responsibility for moving forward with the strategies proposals for change.  The group oversees our Shieling programme which is about improving public space and environment in sustainable and participatory ways. We meet regularly to make plans, to put these into action, and then reflect on what's working well.

In this series of blog posts, members of Shieling Working Group will share what we have been working on over the last year, the challenges we have encountered, and what we have achieved.
